 INTRODUCTION

The  M.K.C.G.   Medical  College,  Berhampur  was started at  first  as an extension wing of  S.C.B.Medical College,  Cuttack in the year 1961 with an annual  intake of 40 students.

Subsequently  in  the  year   1962  this  College started functioning  at Berhampur in some of the  Revenue Buildings  near the present city hospital which have been taken over  for  the purpose.  There after, for some  time the College  was  functioning in the Ex.R.D.C. building and shifted to the present building in the year 1968.

The  following departments started functioning in phased manner  for  imparting   teaching  facilities  and treatment.

 LATEST FACILITIES OF TREATMENT AVAILABLE IN MEDICAL COLLEGE

  • Laparascopic  equipment is available in  the  surgery  department of this hospital.

  • Theratron  780  E  equipment   is  available  in  the Radiotherapy  Department for treatment of cancer  patients under N.C.C.P.

  • Gamma Camera equipment is also available for study of whole body scanning and modern investigations are made for treatment of the patients.

  • Ultrasound equipment is available in the department of Radiology for investigation of the patients.

  • Portable  ultrasound  machine  is  available  in  the department  of  Nephrology  for scanning and  helpful  for dialysis of the patients.

  • Sodium Pottassium analyser and Blood Gas analyser  is also   available  in  the   C.T.surgery   department   for investigation and helpful for open heart surgery operation of  the patients.  Heartlung machine is also available  in the said department.

  • Bronchoscopic equipment is also available in the C.T. surgery  department  which  is helpful for  diagnosis  and treatment of pulmonary diseases.

  • Provision of C.T.Scan and Neurosurgery Department  is under active consideration of Government.
